Committing to the overall welfare of society by bringing clean air to society at large and habitats around, wind energy is a recognised source of affordable, sustainable energy generation.
Wind energy projects are generally more financially viable in “windy” areas that harnesses the power of the wind through its large fans (turbines) converting it to usable energy. The power production performance of a practical wind turbine is proportional to the square of the average wind speed. The difference is accounted for by the aerodynamic, mechanical and electrical conversion characteristics and efficiencies of the wind turbines. This means that the energy that may be produced by a wind turbine will increase by about 20% for each 10% increase in wind speed. The Kinetic energy in the wind is a promising source of renewable energy with significant potential in many parts of the world. Coasts, near water bodies, flat open terrains, normally present the most attractive potential to generate this clean energy.
India holds the fourth position in the world for renewable energy, installed capacity, including large hydro projects. It ranks fourth in usage of its natural resources in abundance – capturing its wind power capacity and its solar power capacity.
Wind Energy Projects have a large geographic spread compared to conventional power projects thereby creating a positive wave of development and growth across several villages, towns and livelihoods it touches in one sweep.
India First, Society First:
Wind power sustainability at Patanjali means providing clean and affordable renewable energy solutions while safeguarding the health and well-being of our communities. A commitment deeply etched in the ethos of the organisation in giving back to our environment and communities in a sustainable, responsible, and social manner.
As responsible corporate citizens, we take cognisance of the impact of climate change, resource depletion and increasing cost of energy. These are some of the crucial challenges that impacts one and all. It has now become ever crucial to implement the concept of sustainability in all business operations. Thus, we lead by example, as a humble torch bearer in the long struggle through the corridors of social implementation and awareness. We endeavour to educate and enable organizations and society at large in an efficient management of their supply chain for emission reduction in all its forms.
Juxtaposed against necessity and consumption is the finite resources of fossil fuel that pose a serious challenge for future generations in the preservation of our planet. When burned endlessly for energy, this fossil fuel leaves an irreversible and infinite trail of ecological damage. Sustainability then is the answer for self-preservation for generations to come without compromising on the basic needs of soceity.
Patanjali aims to create this balance even though carbon is an essential element within the earth’s ecosystem giving life on planet Earth a chance to live, thrive in a happy, sustainable, eco friendly community that lives in unison with Mother Nature.
Our Commitment, Planet First:
Our approach to sustainability is integrated across our core business activities. We are committed to maintaining the highest ecological standards and making a significant, meaningful and positive impact on the communities of our great nation. We hire from local communities and generally lease land with few alternative uses, educating and empowering local communities with a steady stream of livelihood without displacing alternative businesses.
There is proof. We have implemented a robust energy and emission management approach that prioritizes sustainability, efficiency, and responsible practices. Our strategy encompasses various aspects, including resource optimization, renewable energy deployment, and carbon reduction measures.
Our wind farms today straddle six high wind potential states Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh, spread across 3,000 kms of India. We have installed 84.6 MW wind project of which 18.6MW is used for Captive (Own used) consumption is in line with our sustainability goals. We are maintaining these WECs round the clock 24 x 7 for optimum performance. Thus leading by example.
“Waking up to the ever changing landscape of a growing populace around the globe, Patanjali is has stepped up to meet the challenges of their needs in providing clean, green, sustainable yet affordable energy thereby sustaining society. The infinite and largely untapped source of wind energy industry has matured today. We have been fortunate enough to experience the changes in its evolution and versatile dynamics since a little over 5 years. Wind energy in India has now become cost competitive, with the new-build, coal-based systems. This means that new wind energy systems are no longer considered significantly more expensive their conventional energy counterparts. This parity was made possible through a growing focus on the country's coal reserves. As coal becomes scarcer, India has begun to turn to others forms of energy to meet its needs. Renewable Energy in India is only just taking off ! The potential for Renewable Energy is phenomenal, and I would say in India it is equivalent to the 'Conventional Source' of energy if not more!”
